A Commitment to Indigenous Artist Empowerment
In 2021, The Dairy Arts Center moved beyond performative land acknowledgments by permanently dedicating a portion of its building to Native arts and artists. This space—now the Creative Nations gallery—offers complete autonomy to Indigenous artists in how it is used and curated, affirming their right to self-representation and cultural sovereignty. Now a proud sub-program of Create áyA, Creative Nations is expanding its impact through a values-driven framework centered on Artist Career Building and Reconnection with Culture.
Creative Nations supports the cultural resurgence of Indigenous communities through art, workshops and experiences that reconnect artists and communities with traditional practices and ancestral knowledge. Programs foster cross-cultural exchange and empower artists to reclaim culture and resist colonial narratives.
This exhibition marks the first gallery appearance for Native American artists from the Wind River Indian Reservation. Working across beadwork, photography, painting, and anime, each artist brings forward a unique vision grounded in heritage and driven by personal exploration. Voices from the Wind River reflects a growing movement of Indigenous creators asserting space in contemporary art while honoring the stories of their ancestors.
An exhibition showcasing the contemporary experiences of Native Youth through photography, led by artists Dewi Sungai and Jason Houston. On Display July 15th- August 17th, 2025.
